Susie Vaughan

Susie is a public school principal with over 13 years of experience.

Susie's career in education has been one of many achievements that have served everyone from her youngest learners and families to her colleagues. She believes that as much as a school can teach a child, the children and families teach her about life every day.

Susie holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and a certification from the Principal/Mid Management Program at Texas A&M University at Commerce.

She began her career as a Special Education teacher in Wisconsin. While working in Chicago in 1998 she was awarded the prestigious Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Excellence in Teaching Award.

After 15 years she transitioned to supporting other teachers in the areas of compliance and best practices. She held the position of Instructional Support Specialist for 1 year, Coordinator of Special Education Services for 2 years and served as a trainer for new principals.

Upon gaining knowledge of compliance and best practices, she became an instrumental factor in opening one of the first public Early Childhood Schools in the Dallas Metroplex.

Currently, Susie is a public school principal with over 13 years of experience. After seeing the power of coaching through the Power of Self class and in working with her colleagues and teachers she became passionate about the field of coaching. In addition to years of self-study, she is now pursuing her coaching certificate through the International Coaching Federation. Susie has been using the coaching model with school staff and other clients for the past several years.

A proud graduate of the Power of Self class #10, Susie is certified through Marsha Clark and Associates to train in the areas of Conflict Management and Enriching Relationships using the Thomas Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument as well as Courageous Group Conversations. She regularly trains new principals, new assistant principals and leadership teams in these areas.

Susie currently serves as co-chair of the Dale Clark Memorial Scholarship Committee, member of the board for the PLAY Foundation and is the past President of a statewide organization for administrators.
