About the Author...
Jane Helsley Velten
Jane Helsley Velten is an associate of Marsha Clark & Associates, and co-owner of
Mandorla Resources International, a consulting firm providing training and communication resources. In collaboration with Marsha Clark, Jane is the author of The POWER of Self: Women’s Journey to Authentic Power, documenting the stories of participants in The POWER of Self, a year-long, women-only leadership development program. In 2004, an excerpt from the book was published in The Human Element @ Work (publisher: BCon WSA International).
With a M.S. in Education from the University of North Texas, Jane has enjoyed a dual career of professional writing and consulting/training. In the corporate environment, she managed Electronic Data Systems’ (EDS) Creative Services department of writers, designers and video personnel. In 1986, she left to form her own creative services business, and has enjoyed working as an independent consultant for the last 18 years.
In the early 90’s, Jane focused her work on issues of diversity and cultural conflict. She studied with international conflict resolution expert Danaan Parry, and in 1992, became a certified trainer for Essential Peacemaking/Women & Men, which she has co-led throughout the U.S., as well as Europe and Russia. She and her husband, Dirk Velten, are both master trainers for this program, training & certifying facilitators internationally. In 2005, they will be delivering a one-day version of the work for Marsha Clark & Associates.
Jane has applied much of her learning in international conflict to her work with corporate clients, and she has both developed curriculum and led diversity programs for AT&T and MetLife. For her work with individual clients, Jane received advanced level training in Voice Dialogue facilitation with Drs. Hal and Sidra Stone, and she brings the concept of “inner diversity” into her approach to outer conflicts.
"In whatever work I do,” says Jane, “whether it's with a group or an individual client, my focus is on the issues behind the 'presenting problems.' Generally, those issues are spiritual at their core. When the spirit is engaged, real change can happen."
A mother of two children—Colin, 32, and Joy, 29—Jane lives in Dallas with her husband, Dirk, and two lovable cats, Max and Mousel. Jane and Dirk are co-founders of Mandorla Resources International.
